With the Super Bowl being in Phoenix this year, we had to take the opportunity to go downtown and have some fun. Paul Allen, owner of the Seahawks, rented Chase field where the Diamondbacks play and invited all the Seahawks fans to come down to a celebration for free!
Even though many teams talk about how their fans are the 12th man, the Seahawks really mean it. For you non-football fans readers, let me explain. In football, only 11 players on each team are allowed on the field. The 12th man means that when the fans are involved in the game it's like having an extra player. The fans are considered a member of the team and this could not be more true than with the Seahawks. We went to a couple of games when we lived in WA and the crowds at Century Link Field are crazy and insane with their love of their Seahawks. The place is so loud and is considered one of the hardest places for visiting teams to play. They also have a special ceremony before each game where a special guest hoists the 12th man flag.
Staci and I planned quite a feast for our Super Bowl watching party. After church we headed over and considering it was fast Sunday, started chowing down.
