This week has been great, especially since Thanksgiving is coming up on Thursday! We're excited for that. There wasn't anything extra exciting that went on. There's been a lot of progression with the people that we've been working with though.
The first thing I would like to share would be my gratitude for all of the little notes I got in my package this morning. I read them all and they made me so happy. I enjoyed hearing from everyone individually and it made me feel great to know that so many people are looking out for me and that they appreciate me! I miss all of yall! I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving. I hope everyone knows that I am so thankful to have all of you guys in my life. You all have always effected me in a positive way.
The beginning of our week went pretty well. We were able to get back in contact with Lavon again! He was gone for a couple of months because he had back surgery up near Myrtle Beach, and so he was out of commission for awhile. He's a less active that Elder Root and I have always worked with. Super cool guy. He had us come over to help him move some stuff since he can't move anything for awhile, and then he had us help set up his Christmas decorations. We got all of his stuff out of the attic, opened up everything, and then set up his tree which looked great. We had a good time with him. The best part about our visit was that we picked up a box with a brand new dress shirt in it and we asked him what it was for, and when we asked him why he bought it, he went "Well it's for church". He hasn't been to church in 20+ years. So we've had some random progress with him! It's great. He'll be coming back to church soon.
Logan and Janet are progressing really well too. They came to church again, and enjoyed it a lot. We've started a new way to teach them by doing a lot of scripture study so that they can read more of The Book of Mormon. It's been working pretty good so far. Janet has stopped smoking and she's coming off of the nicotine patches slowly for her baptism. She'll be ready soon!
Brother Howe (the high counselor in charge of missionary work in the stake) came to coordination this week. He gave us a lot of info about what the stake is doing with missionary work and he discussed a lot of cool stuff with us and the sisters. The scripture study idea was one, and we also talked a lot about the Book of Mormon class that we have every week. I had a really great idea about it, and when I told Elder Root about it, he said he had the exact same idea about it haha. It was pretty sick. So I'm going to give a training at DDM tomorrow about it. We're going to change the whole structure of the class and we're going to make it compliment the whole scripture study plan that we are trying to use with everyone we teach so that they can come every week and expect the same things that they are already being taught. It should be good and the class is going to be a lot better once I figure it all out and make the change to it at our building!
Fort Jackson went really well too! It poured rain the whole day, but we were still outside setting up the font haha. We got a brand new portable font. It's huge. It can fit all 8 of us missionaries together inside if we stand in it! We all took a photo of it when we brought it out at our meeting on Saturday. I'll send it once Elder Thatcher emails it to me. It's awesome. We didn't have any baptisms this week, but we're set for about 5 this next Sunday! Elder Root and I both taught Pvt. Warenborg. He's 100% set for baptism on Sunday so we had a good day there.
This week will be great, especially with the holiday coming up. The Briles are having a big Thanksgiving thing at the church and then we're going to play basketball afterwards. Also our ward is having Turkey Bowl so Thursday should be great. I hope everyone has a great holiday!
Love,
Elder Sean Bills
