Sean didn't have time to write a general email this week, so these are bits and pieces of the emails he sent to Kent and me. First off, Sister Kitchen, who fed them on Easter sent us two videos of Sean, Elder Lavulo, Elder Hugh, and Elder Bowen practicing some hymns they were going to sing at a nursing home. Second, she is our new favorite person! Third, the first hymn, Ye Elders of Israel, is in Kent's top 2 of favorite hymns. Fourth, the second hymn, I Need Thee Every Hour, is my favorite! Tender mercies, people, tender mercies! You can learn more about tender mercies, here!
My week was so great though. I'm glad you liked the singing! We practiced that because we went over to a retirement home and sang a bunch of hymns for them. It was really great to sing with all of the old people haha. They sang along on a lot of the songs. Even though a lot of them had really bad alzheimers, they touched my heart when I got to talk with them all after singing. They were so happy and I wish I could show you the video of all of us singing to them. I'll put it on my flash drive and you can watch it once I send it home!
Make sure you take a lot of pictures of Troy at the trek because it could be the only one he goes on! That sounds a lot more serious then the one I went on in Texas though. It was hard but they fed us so It wasn't too bad haha. I'm sure he can push through it. We actually had skipped dinner last night because we had so many appointments and that was rough. We biked all the way to the other side of our area and I thought about pizza the whole time. Once we got in a lesson with Josh I felt better and didn't feel like eating until I got home.
I gotta run. Love you! We're playing basketball, going to the mall, and then eating what's called the pigs dinner at a place called the Beacon and it's literally a GIANT ice cream sundae. So yeah were doing that with some members in the ward!
Love you bye!
Hey Dad,
I'm a singer I sing! hahaha
The video was from when we practiced and we got to sing at a retirement home for a bunch of people and it was really great. Singing was fun and I'm not as bad as I thought I was.
I'm glad you liked that story about the lady giving us $10. That was a really awesome experience for me and I learned a lot from it. Heavenly Father really does care about what I'm up to all the time. It's a good feeling to know that I'm watched always and that there's a purpose for everything, even if something happens that's not planned.
So on Tuesday we had ZTM (zone training meeting) and the No More Strangers fireside at the church. I had my first interview with President Holm since I got here in February. My interview with him was really awesome and we talked a lot about how I am feeling and doing. He told me that he thinks that I'm very focused on working and that I have a really good attitude towards things all the time. He said that he doesn't think I float, but I'm a person who rolls with things that happens and he was pretty much dead on because I've done that forever. I like to roll with whatever goes on in the moment and see where it goes as long as I'm working hard and knowing that I'm supposed to do it.
I prayed a lot this week about having more faith and strength and I definitely got it this week. It's funny though that it didn't just come naturally and automatically. I had to do a lot of work to get it haha. Elder Lavulo and I gave a training at ZTM about active faith and doing everything we can in our work before we say "Trust in the Lord, he will take care of it." kind of thing. Apparently everyone liked it a lot and that it inspired them to do better! Through that training and acting on faith I gained a lot of strength this week. Like on Sat. all of our appointments dropped and our plans were basically shot, so after we sat in the apartment for 20 minutes figuring out what to do, we prayed, and then I just got up and hopped on my bike and told Elder Lavulo to follow me and we rode to a place where I've never been before and talked withe everyone. We got a return appointment with one guy who wants to have his daughter baptized and talked with another guy for a long time. I'm glad I had faith and acted on it.
Otherwise our investigators are doing really good. Tarl came to the No More Strangers fireside and met President Holm too. He absolutely loved it and he's gained a strong testimony and he recognizes the spirit all the time. He's progressing every day and we just have to work with him a little longer and I know he'll get baptized. Here's a cool photo of me and one of Tarl's 28 boa snakes on my face.
This week was awesome and I'm glad yours was too Dad. Love you!
