Matthew 26:36-75 Mark 14:32-72 Luke 22:39-71 John 14-18
I went to bed last night with tears in my eyes and a broken heart for my favorite city, Dallas, TX. We spent 12 years living in the Dallas area and consider it our hometown. So many happy memories and friends and family there.
If you aren't aware, 5 police officers were killed by a sniper during a protest on July 7, 2016.
All I can think of this morning is how much we all need the Savior of the world, even Jesus the Christ. His life was filled with love and compassion. He taught love and forgiveness. He healed the sick. He gave sight to the blind. He lifted the poor and lowly of heart. He suffered for all the sins that we continue to heap upon his shoulders. He overcame death and despair and gives us all the chance to live with a loving Heavenly Father after this life.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." - John 3:16
This beautiful scripture is known all over the world and it is a beautiful description of how important the Savior is and how important it is to follow him. I also encourage you to read the scriptures I have listed above. They are the chapters that tell of the Savior's last hours. The tell of his love, his suffering, and his betrayal.
May we all turn to Him, and love each other as He loved us, is my sincere hope and prayer today.
