This week was awesome and a little bit hard at the same time being sick and all, but I feel like Elder Bassett and I have been having a ton of success out here.
I got over my strep throat pretty quickly, but on Thursday we had to bike all day and it was about 17 outside so I caught a cold towards the weekend. That wasn't too much fun and by Saturday night I decided that I should probably take a break from everything and so I slept for almost 12 hours. That helped me feel a lot better! Haha.
I'm feeling pretty good now. This past week was great. We have been having great lessons with Miriam and Rashawn, our 2 most solid investigators. Rashawn has finally gotten over his concern about baptism and he expressed to us that he really wants to be baptized. He told us that the Spirit told him that what we were teaching was his answer to his prayers. He's only 11. He's been through a lot growing up so he's pretty smart for how old he is. He and his family were at church on Sunday too! It was awesome.
Our lessons with Miriam and her fiance Larry (Recent Convert) have been amazing too. They've been reading a ton and Miriam has been way more committed than she has before. She and Larry came to church and Miriam absolutely loved it. She had multiple uplifting experiences and she texted us afterwards to make sure that we let everyone at church know how welcome and at home she felt. She has a few friends in the ward already that she's worked with before and so she has been comfortable with everyone around her! Once her and Larry have a marriage date set then we can set a solid day for her to be baptized. She wants to be baptized really badly.
Also in the week we had our exchange with the AP's. I had a good time with Elder Willie over at the YSA ward. I taught some good lessons and met a lot of cool people.
When I got back, Elder Bassett and I talked a lot about things and he and I have been working more in sync and at an equal level. I've been worried that I'm putting all of the work on my side and not letting him lead and things like that. I'm glad we talked about it because I was worried that in the chance that I get transferred in a week he may struggle to lead the area, but now I don't worry about it at all. He's such a good person and he's taught me a lot about how I can care for others better and I've been helping him get things in order for himself so that he and I can work at the same level all the time. It's been great. He and I are doing really well and I'm so excited to see how this week goes with the people that we are seeing. This transfer has been super stressful for a lot of reasons and I feel like the stress is letting off a little bit.
Hopefully I won't get transferred now that we have things in full swing with the ward and the people that we teach. I'll know by Saturday though. There's some chance for it to go both ways, especially if I continue on the track that I've been on so far on my mission.
I hope that everyone had a great week and I'm excited to see what this next week will bring.
Love
Elder Bills
I also received a letter and picture from Sean's companion, Elder Bassett this week! It was so great!
Dear Elder Bills' Mom, I wanted to thank you for your package on Christmas! I already ate almost all of the food and used almost all of the gift card money, so thank you very much! I've loved working with Elder Bills, and this week has been a great blessing! Thank you for all you've done in raising him to be such a strong example! I hope you have a great week as well!
