I'm really sorry that I didn't email y'all this morning! At 10 am we all went out with Sister Brouthers to go to Fort Sumter and Downtown Charleston, and so I haven't had the chance to email until now. Everything here is going great. Going to Ft. Sumter and Charleston was way cool. The weather was super cool today too. Lately it's been about 99 but the heat index says it feels like 110 because of the humidity haha. Yeah it's been hot, but we got to ride the ferry over to Ft. Sumter and it was nice seeing the ocean again and sitting on a boat. We all had a lot of fun and got to see a lot of the Civil and Colonial History in South Carolina. It was pretty sweet. We even went to this dungeon that they have in the Exchange building in Charleston and had a tour of it. I thought that was pretty cool too.
This week has been really weird but really great! Unfortunately, everyone in the apartment got sick (which means I got sick again) Elder Leavitt got sick first with a really bad cough and then it passed on to all of us. Elder Bowen and I got sick at the exact same time and we tried to muscle through the sickness and kept working, but by Friday we felt so lousy that we just stayed in that day. But the next day I felt a ton better and we have been out working since. I've still got a cough and chest congestion but it's getting better every day. That was pretty much the weird part.
We've found a few new people to teach this week as well! We found a guy named Eric and he's super nice. He's an archaeologist here in Charleston and so it was cool to hear about what he's found while working. He's found certain Native American artifacts that are over 50,000 years old. He's really open and so we taught him the first lesson and he seemed really intrigued and is okay about talking with us more. Another person we have found is Pam. Pam is Sister Torres mother. She lives in Andrews which is an hour away, and she is supposed to attend the ward at Myrtle Beach if she was baptized, but since she has to drive the same distance to here for church, she got permission to see the missionaries here since her family lives here and supports her. She's been investigating the church for 10 years and she pretty much has had the desire to baptized for awhile, and I can tell that after we teach her everything she knows that she'll have a strong conviction of the truth of it, just based on her willingness to want to know the truth and to do whatever she can to find it. She's a real sweet lady and we have another appointment with her on Saturday!
So yeah this week has been really awesome. I've just been working and trying to get over being sick. Zone Conference is tomorrow and so it's going to be exciting to hear some stuff from President Turner. Elder Bowen and I are supposed to give like a quick 5 minute training so that should be good too.
Here's some photos from today!
I hope that y'alls week was great. I hope everything is going great with everyone and that everyone has had a great end of the summer!
Love
Elder Sean Bills
