Jocelyn!!!!!!! I just saw Sean at the MTC!!! He looked so good and happy and he said he has absolutely loved it so far. And he looked at me and said,"will you please tell my mom that I love her and I miss her like crazy." He is so sweet!
Check out this short video about what a "tender mercy" is: I received a sweet tender mercy late Sunday night and it came as this text message from Linsey Pickup: Jocelyn!!!!!!! I just saw Sean at the MTC!!! He looked so good and happy and he said he has absolutely loved it so far. And he looked at me and said,"will you please tell my mom that I love her and I miss her like crazy." He is so sweet! Not only is Linsey family, but she is also an ASL interpreter and was interpreting at the MTC Sunday night devotional. The minute my eyes saw Sean's name, the tears started flowing. See, here is what it feels like to me when you don't have any physical contact with your kid during this 2 year mission: It's like there is a string between your heart and your child. That string stretches farther and farther, the longer the separation. BUT! When someone you know sees your child and hears their voice, and then tells you about it, it's like that string springs back and you feel connected to them again. Is this making any sense? I had the same experience with Ryan when he had been in the MTC for about 5 weeks. Wedding Cake Melanie's husband, Dax, was working in the MTC and saw Ryan in the halls one day. Melanie called me and told me that Dax had seen him and that he said Ryan looked great and was really happy. I started sobbing because it felt like Ryan was so close. The same with this message from Linsey, only it got even better when she sent this picture: I keep looking at his incredible smile and the happiness he is radiating. I can hear his voice and imagine him actually saying, "Hi mom! I love you and miss you like crazy, but I know this is where I'm supposed to be right now." I'm so grateful that our loving Heavenly Father is aware of our heartache and allows little tender mercies like this to occur so that we know He is watching over us and giving us strength to do the hard things.
